Milly and Maggie were side-by-side in their biplanes! They lined up on the runway and the referee stood in between the twin sisters’ single engine planes; he waved his flag clearing them for takeoff and their race began.
They darted into the air and flew side-by-side at full thrust. Milly gained footing by diving to gain speed, but she also flew through a large cloud which slowed her down. Maggie was in the lead. The engine roared as she flew at full speed to the finish line.
But there was one thing- Milly’s plane was nowhere to be found. Maggie looked up, right, left, even turned the plane upside down so she could see below her. She estimated that Milly couldn’t have been more than a mile behind.
Her plane kept steadily in her now-solo flight. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky.
“Milly, this is Maggie. Do you copy?”
No response. She called again.
Still no response.
Maggie turned her small pink plane around and went to search for her twin sister’s equally small yellow plane. She looked at the large cloud that her sister flew through. It was the last time she saw Milly’s plane. She took a deep breath, turned her plane around and headed straight into the cloud.
